This recipe is my go-to Quick Pizza Dough, which is fast to prepare and a great healthy option containing half whole wheat flour. The ingredients make two large pizzas with a thin and flavorful crust thanks to the olive oil, oregano, and whole wheat flour. I only measure the ingredients for the dough and eyeball the toppings. You only need one bowl and a rolling pin.
If you want to make a healthy pizza, you can’t avoid whole grain: vitamins, plenty of fiber, etc are still present in the flour. This not only keeps you feeling full for longer but also helps prevent cravings. Complex carbs from whole grain flour enter the bloodstream much more slowly and evenly giving you energy for a longer period.
Homemade pizza nights should be fun and easy. This dough requires zero raising time – make your pizzas right away. Just a couple of kneads and a few rolls with a rolling pin and enjoy!
If you are looking for a more classic pizza dough, you find a similar approach with plain white flavor here. I only use half whole wheat flour, because with whole wheat flour, the dough tends to be more dry and breaks easier and I like my pizza soft and crunchy. It would be interesting to try this similar recipe for whole-wheat pizza dough.
Quick Pizza Dough
Ingredients
- 400 grams of flour (200 grams whole wheat + 200 grams white)
- 4 grams of salt
- 2 teaspoons of oregano
- 200 milliliters of lukewarm water
- 12 grams of fresh yeast or 6 grams of dry yeast
- 20 grams of olive oil or 2 tablespoons
Instructions

- Press a hole in the flour and fill it with lukewarm water. Dissolve the yeast in the water and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add oil and mix until a dough ball forms.
- Transfer to a floured work surface and knead by hand until a smooth ball comes together.
- Cover the dough with your bowl and let sit on your work surface while preparing your pizza toppings.
- Divide the dough in half, gently knead, and roll into desired shape.
- Top with your favorite toppings.
- Sprinkle the pizza with olive oil and place in a 220°C oven until golden brown.
Notes
Do not use hot water or it will kill the yeast and your dough will not rise.
